My First Thrift Event with SF Goodwill

156,000+ residents in SF alone live at the poverty level. Non-Profit and community giver, SF Goodwill (who also stretches as far as San Mateo and Marin County) makes it their mission to equip low income folks and those without access to skill training, the tools necessary to succeed in the 21st century workforce. Through skill-building, individualized career services, and offering paid employments and benefits, SF Goodwill creates a Bay Area where no one is left behind. So when they invited me to collaborate and highlight all they do while shopping to my hearts content, I did not have to think twice!

With an open invite and roughly 30-40 of my own friends, family, and local audience we celebrated the pillar of the community, SF Goodwill. I offered free style consulting to guests as well as hand picked and curated a few of the racks within the theme “Summer of Love” with a touch of modern flair! I really enjoyed the challenge as it paid homage to the Haight District’s rich history and strong fashion sense that was as bold and print-filled as it was bohemian and relaxed. As for the ambiance, DJ Busy B spun an AMAZING curation of music from the 60s to today’s contemporary jams and the turnout and give back was a huge success! All purchases made at SF Goodwill directly fund the mission which provides job skills to individuals in need of second chances.
